Summary
The Doombuggy approaches a security fence where a
a guard stands watch. As the guard attempts to de-activate the security electric
fence, the power shorts out, and one major boards explodes. As the power flickers
to life again, another short occurs, and one of the boards in the system
falls to the ground, missing the audience. They slowly and carefully go
underneath of the other, standing board, hoping that it, too, will NOT
collapse on them.
Special Effects Used:
This scene is a high-special effects one. It deals with a
major catastrophe where an out-of-control electric fence threatens the passengers
on the tour. For this, a combination of sound effects and pyrotechnic effects
are mixed together to show this scene. There are actually two boards (see figure 2)
and one is stationary and the other is movable. The stationary board has four flash
pots (see 'Hendrickson's Death Scene' for details on a flash
pot) located on it and they go off in a certain order. The final flash pot
is connected to the board, which has a pivot point on it's other end. When
the flash pot is discharged, it not only produced a flash, but also sends
the board falling down to the ground. The two boards are approximately 10 ft.
off the ground. A control panel, controlled by the "guard", is the source
of operation of the flash pots. The control panel consists of five switches:
Flash pot (FP) 1, FP 2, FP 3, FP 4, and 'Lights' (two floodlights). These
go off in sync with the audio to give a very awesome effect.
